It is highly unlikely that you have never heard of PUBG. One of the most popular and controversial games, PUBG, was in headlines many times, sometimes for the number of people using it, and sometimes for governments banning it.
But with over 50 million players in India, it is one of the most popular games in the country.

Play PUBG Mobile on Jio Phone
One of the factors behind this considerable adoption is the availability of high-speed internet connection at a lower price.
Reliance Jio, launched in 2007, made the internet connections available to masses in India at an affordable price point. That and availability of low-cost smartphones gave the gaming scenario a massive boost in India.

Jio also launched its own feature phone in 2017, Jio Phone. It was a primary, cost-effective phone, made available at a refundable deposit of Rs. 1500.
It also supported some smartphone-like features, including support for YouTube, WhatsApp, and Facebook. Jio Phone became immensely popular and captured more than 38% of India’s feature phone market, with over 50 million customers.
Jio’s phone has low memory of 512MB and 4GB storage. It runs on KaiOS. The PUBG Mobile version, at the minimum, required 2MB RAM and 2MB free storage space. Hence, the Jio Phone users had no way to play PUBG on their mobiles.
PUBG Lite
It changed to a great extent in July 2019. Tencent, the company that created PUBG, launched PUBG lite version in India, a year after it’s original launch in the Philippines.
The PUBG lite version was specially meant for devices with lower specifications. While the company has not specified any minimum requirements, it is intended to work on devices with less than 2MB RAM. It launched on Google Play for Android initially, but later an iOS version was also released on Apple App Store.
Jio Phones run on KaiOS, while PUBG Lite doesn’t have any specific versions supporting KaiOS. It only supports Android and iOS. Does that mean you will still not be able to play PUBG on Jio Phone?
